PELAGIC PARTNERS WITH ONE TREE PLANTED AS PART OF THEIR COMMITMENT TO SUSTAINABILITY
Pelagic announced a partnership with One Tree Planted that aims to help global reforestation efforts. For every truck of material moved from Pelagic’s supplier base, Pelagic will donate US$1.00 towards the planting of trees.
“We’re excited for the opportunity to work with One Tree Planted on such an impactful project,” said Pelagic founder, Thomas Baring. “We admire organizations and programmes that help facilitate the rehabilitation of our environment and is a prime example of how other companies in the extractives industry can make a positive change.”
The objectives of this new partnership include:
- Supporting global reforestation efforts;
- Empowering consumers with sustainable actions; and
- Raising awareness about the importance of ecosystem restoration.
Planting trees is one of the best ways to combat the damaging effects of climate change. Trees help clean the air we breathe, filter the water we drink, and provide habitat to over 80 percent of the world’s terrestrial biodiversity. Trees also provide tremendous social impacts by providing jobs to over 1.6 billion people, empowering women in underdeveloped nations, and supporting communities devastated by environmental damage.
